Description
Your journey begins at the base of the mighty Mount Vesuvius, the volcano that famously
destroyed Pompeii in 79 AD. After a comfortable ride up the winding mountain roads,
you’ll disembark and begin the final ascent on foot. The hike is moderately steep but
highly rewarding.
Upon reaching the summit, you’ll be greeted by an expert volcanologist who will explain
the geological history of the area. Peer into the massive crater, which still emits steam
from its fumaroles, and take in the spectacular views stretching across the Bay of Naples
to the islands of Capri and Ischia.
Itinerary
Vesuvius National Park Entrance. Meet your guide 15 minutes before departure.
Guided hike up the volcano path (approx. 30 minutes).
1 hour guided tour around the crater with a volcanologist.
